There was a time when I played games on my PC, these days most of my spare time is spent playing golf! Yes, golf. It was my son's idea to try the sport of golf 'for real' after playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf on the Wii. We bought cheap golf clubs and went off to our local municipal. After a while I got completely hooked on golf and my son did not! He still plays the odd round with me but not often. Below, I list a few useful golf resources with a few golf tips.

We have family days out as well! Below are a few of our favorite places we visit.

Useful Golf Resources and tips

If you are interested in taking up Golf as a sport, don't go out and pay lots of money for clubs etc. Borrow clubs off a friend or hire clubs from your local course. If you are still interested, you can find very cheap starter packs online. You get what you pay for so don't expect bargain golf gear to last long. Here is one site that have bargain starter sets for men women and children. The Sports HQ

You can find alternative golf shops online, there are too many to list here. Once you have played a few rounds, you might catch the bug and want to improve. Golf lessons early on can be very helpful. Your local golf course may have a local golf 'pro' that offers lessons, or try your local driving range. In the UK one of the biggest golf chains is American Golf, and they offer excellent facilities, golf lessons, superb shop and driving range plus much more.

Online golf videos can be very useful, one of my favorite online golf video resources is VideoJug. Rickard Strongert is superb!

Read, read and read again the Rules of Golf before playing. There are lots or rules and etiquette to remember and it is worth while memorising as much as possible before that 1st round of golf.

So, you have had some lessons, a few rounds of golf, visited the driving range, and are now completely obsessed! Your game is improving but you want more? Upgrading your golf clubs is a great way to improve your game. Purchase a new driver, a new putter, wedge, irons or fairway wood? Whatever you choose to upgrade, go and get custom fitted. Custom fitted golf clubs don't tend to cost any more than clubs bought straight off the shelf. Custom fit studios in most golf shops will analyse your golf swing, club speed, ball speed, height, size of hands, shot shape and more! All this information is then used to make sure the new driver or set of irons you are about to purchase is right for you.

Be careful, the sport of golf is NOT cheap! If allowed, it can burn a very large hole in your bank account or credit card! Most golf club membership's can cost between £400 or well in excess of £1000 per year! Add to that, the cost your golf equipment, clothes and travelling costs, golf is not a cheap sport. Unless money is no object to you! One alternative is your local municipal, local municipals are usually lower priced pay and play and sometimes offer yearly deals (season tickets) that makes playing golf not quite so expensive. Also, your local municipal might have a golf club attached and the club membership is usually much lower than the 'posh' course around the corner. You might end up paying £450 per year for your season ticket (play as much golf as you like!) and £80 per year club membership that allows you to enter competitions and obtain a handicap.

Comparegolfprices.co.uk Quickly compare prices across the UK's golf shops, golf stores and the Amazon Marketplace to find the best UK golf prices. Comparegolfprices incorporate any available golf discount codes into their results as soon as the codes are published so you know you're always getting the best deal.

Speaking of handicaps, you may need a handicap certificate if you fancy playing golf on your next foreign holiday in Spain, France or USA etc. What if you do not belong to a golf club and have no handicap certificate? No worries, you can obtain one online! There are a few resources that provide online handicap certificates; Elite Golf Solutions is just one of many.

If you play golf there is a chance that one day, a golf ball will hit you on the head, or you may hit someone else whilst playing, shoot a one in a million hole in one and end up with a huge bar bill at the 19th hole! Most golf club membership's come with golf insurance, but if you are not a member of a golf club what about insurance? Again look online, Elite Golf Solutions offer Golf insurance and so do many others.

Golf is a sport that is seen as boring by some people, an elite sport only for certain types of people. Not true! Golf is played by people from all walks of life, age is not a problem either, from 5 years old to 75 years old or older! Men and women play golf for a number of reasons. Fresh air and exercise is high up on the list, travelling to new places, meeting new people, golf is a challenging sport, a frustrating sport. What makes you keep playing golf? It's that feeling when you play an awesome shot to the fairway or green. That fantastic putt, your first hole in one, eagle, birdie or par, beating your lowest score or your opponent and more besides. Golf, you will either love it or hate it!
