Why Nutzboard?

Firstly my handle or nickname is Nutrocker, why? that's another story.

I wanted to create a bulletin board that gave members help on computer related issues, at the same time provide an area for people to chat about almost anything, as long as they were nice to each other that is!

Bulletin boards are an excellent way of creating a virtual community for your web site. So I used part of my nickname (Nutz) and another part from bulletin (board) and 'Nutzboard' was born.

Later, I thought, what about these other possibilites?

When people are stuck with a project and cannot get any further, it dives them 'nuts' so come to Nutzboard and get help!

Computers use 'kernels' in programs or operating systems, kernels could be translated as 'the inner softer part of a seed, fruit stone, or nut' which fits nicely too!

So, there you have it, in a nut-shell!! ;)

Why Nutrocker?

Back in the mid to late seventies CB Radio took the UK by storm (Film - Convoy, partly to blame!) all CB Radios were AM/Sideband and made illegal to use in the UK because of the UK Radio Licensing laws at that time, & still are banned I think. Damn shame, but it did NOT stop thousands upon thousands of UK CB'rs getting hold of a rig, an arial and SWR meter and off they went. In cars in trucks and at home. Great fun, many a new friend made by everyone, and some enemies too! Copy that?

I HAD to have a go, I had to choose a name/handle. I was, still am, a fan of Emerson, lake and Palmer, and was looking through my record collection whilst I was speaking (my first time on CB) to a 'good buddy' (Rebel Rouser) he asked me "what handle was I going to use?" I saw Nutrocker on the Pictures at an Exhibition album. I chose it straight away, and it stuck with me, even after CB Radio died a death because of government controls and the introduction of legalised FM CB Radios.

Even today, some of my very old friends call me 'Nutz' or 'Nutty' or Nutrocker! (As well as some other nicknames I would rather not say! or use!)

So when I wanted a web site it HAD to be nutrocker.co.uk!

Thanks for your time.

Don (Nutrocker)
